Wild Carp Companies presents the Wild Carp Week Kick-off at Paper Mill Island in Baldwinsville, NY. The event is scheduled for Saturday, May 14, 2011 from 11:00 AM – 9:00 PM.


This daylong event is loaded with entertainment the whole family can enjoy. Best of all, admission to Paper Mill Island is free!


The Wild Carp Week Kick-off entails a full schedule of fun events for all ages to enjoy. Fishing enthusiasts will find fishing-related vendors, the 2011 Carp Casting Championship presented by Resistance Tackle — featuring some of Wild Carp Week’s best anglers — and the Wild Carp Classic peg draw. Children will enjoy the Kid’s Corner with a magician, games and activities

The Wild Carp Week Kick-off will also feature the Wild Carp Week World Salt Potato Eating Championship, presented by JGB Enterprises. People of all ages will enjoy a visit from the competitive eaters of Major League Eating — including Nathan’s Hot Dog world record holder Joey Chestnut — as they set a world record for most salt potatoes consumed during a competitive eating contest.

  • Swivel only on rod; competitors will affix a Resistance Tackle lead for casting

Event Scoring

  • 3 scoring areas will float in the Seneca River

  • Competitors must land weight on float to count score

  • 5 casts per competitor, highest point total wins

  • 3-casting attempts per competitor for tie-breakers
